The number of tweets devoted to soda taxes, a barometer of public engagement, reached its highest point in 2016, but has significantly decreased since then. The decreasing incidence of tweets mentioning soda taxes without revealing sentiment coincided with a quick increase in tweets that expressed a neutral opinion on soda taxes. A gradual increase in negative sentiment tweets was observed from 2015 to 2019, followed by a slight stagnation, in contrast to the unchanging quantity of positive sentiment tweets. In the period from 2015 to 2022, approximately 56% of tweets, excluding those directly quoting news, held a neutral sentiment, whereas negative and positive sentiments constituted 29% and 15%, respectively. This study focused on the fermentation of Rubus coreanus (R. coreanus) byproducts containing a high polyphenol concentration with the use of Lactobacillus plantarum GBL 16 and 17, lactic acid bacteria derived from R. coreanus. The study examined the effects of a probiotic-enhanced feed, specifically fermented feed derived from R. coreanus lactic acid bacteria (RC-LAB fermented feed) containing Bacillus subtills, Aspergillus oryzae, and Yeast, on the pig's intestinal microbiome and immune balance. With 18 replicates each, four treatment groups were randomly assigned 72 finishing Berkshire pigs. Through probiotic-enhanced fermentation in RC-LAB feed, an uptick was observed in the genera Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Mitsuokella, Prevotella, Bacteroides spp., Roseburia spp., and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, fostering a healthier pig digestive system. RC-LAB feed, fermented and containing probiotics, effectively decreased the prevalence of the harmful bacterial genera: Clostridium, Terrisporobacter, Romboutsia, Kandleria, Megasphaera, and Escherichia. To ascertain the rumen fermentation dynamics of lupin flakes and to understand the influence of lupin flake supplementation on Hanwoo steer growth performance, blood metabolite profiles, and carcass traits, this research was undertaken. The in vitro and in situ testing of lupin grains and flakes employed three Hanwoo cows with rumen fistulas. For the feeding trial, 40 early-fattening Hanwoo steers were randomly divided into four groups: control, T1, T2, and T3. The proportions of lupin flakes in their formula feed were 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%, respectively. After 6 hours of in vitro incubation, and again after 24 hours, rumen pH and ammonia levels were found to be significantly lower in the lupin flake group compared to the lupin grain group (p<0.05). The lupin flake group experienced a greater concentration of propionate, butyrate, and total volatile fatty acids after 12 hours of incubation compared to the lupin grain group (p < 0.005). Simultaneously, the rate of crude protein disappearance was significantly higher at 9 and 12 hours of rumen fermentation in the lupin flake group (p < 0.005). Lupin flake supplementation did not influence the animals' average daily weight gain. Lupin flake supplementation led to a reduction in dry matter intake compared to the control group (p<0.005). Treatments T2 and T3 demonstrated improved feed conversion ratios (p<0.005). Plasma total protein concentration in 29-month-old steers was lower in treatments T1 and T3 (p<0.005). Statistically significantly lower plasma triglyceride concentrations were found in the groups supplemented with lupin flakes, compared to the control group (p<0.005). A higher incidence rate of yield grade A was observed in T1 and T2 relative to the control group; the highest incidence rate of meat quality 1+ or higher was seen in T2. Regarding carcass auction prices, T2's value was higher than that of the other groups. Compared to whole lupin grains, lupin flakes appear to have a more marked effect on the rumen's ammonia levels and the speed with which crude protein is removed. Importantly, we suggest that a supplemental feed consisting of a 6% lupin flake formula positively impacts the feed conversion ratio, yield grade, and quality grade of Hanwoo steers.
The isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the binary systems tetrahydrofuran (THF) + acetic acid (AA) and THF + trichloroethylene (TCE) were determined by employing an ebulliometer. Data on the boiling temperatures of (THF + AA/THF + TCE) systems is reported for 13/15 compositions under 5/6 varying pressures, spanning from 502/600 to 1011/1013 kPa, respectively. The combined THF and AA system demonstrates a simple phase behavior, devoid of any azeotrope. The THF-TCE system's lack of azeotrope formation is accompanied by a pinch point localized near pure TCE. To accurately represent the binary (PTx) data, the nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) and universal quasichemical (UNIQUAC) activity coefficient models were employed. Both models were capable of a satisfactory fit to the binary VLE data. Despite the UNIQUAC model's application, the NRTL model demonstrated a slight improvement in its ability to represent the vapor-liquid equilibrium data for both systems.
